The Island Golf Course Designed by Tom Fazio

The 18-hole Island course was ranked by Golf Digest magazine as the 10th best new Private Course in 1994 and the 5th Best Course in the state of Virginia.  The par-72 course stretches along lakes and marshes offering expansive views of the Potomac, then winds through a wooded valley laced with streams.  Wildlife is abundant, ranging from eagles and marsh fowl to deer and red foxes.  Large forgiving fairways and greens can be deceptive, surrounded by small, deep and well placed bunkers.  Playing 6,902 yards from the championship tees, the course is enjoyable for both expert and higher handicap golfers.

The River Course Designed by Arthur Hills

In 1999, the River Course was added to Lowes Island Club as a perfect complement to Tom Fazio's Island Course.  With water coming into play on 10 of its 18 holes - including obstacles like wide lakes - this course combines challenging play with breathtaking Potomac River scenery.  Varying wind conditions on this open links-style course create changing strategies from one round to the next.  This par-72 course stretches 7,006 yards from the championship tees and is a true test of golf skills.
